The Monday drama night class performed the Bhangra in the theater, for an audience composed of parents and peers.

Dance Focus has been an on and off class for the past 15 years. Britt Block has been the drama instructor for the past four years.

The class incorporates dances that are good for a wide range of students all the way from freshman to senior. “This is a class for all skill levels of dance,” said Tossa Hayward, a senior at Redwood High School.

The classes previously learned dance styles including Broadway and hip-hop.

“The best part of class is getting to know different people and learning dances from all over the world,” said junior Kathleen Hatch.

After four weeks of practice and two practice performances on opening night, Dance Focus took their designated positions on stage and began their dance. The abundance of bangles, bindis, and colorful scarves contributed to the visual aesthetic of the dance.

After the show and a couple deep breaths the dancers continued to congratulate each other on a good show. “Performing is as much an assessment of yourself as it is entertaining the audience,” said Brendon Mahoney, sophomore.

Block said that Bhangra was her favorite dance on the curriculum and was proud of the students for their performance.

“I want to do it again,” said Angeles Ramirez, junior.
